Paul Clark is a multi-talented musician, playing at various times in the following chronological order;  piano, guitar, clarinet, string bass, and electric bass,  although the guitar has remained his principal instrument. As a teenager Paul played in jazz bands (bass and clarinet) but he didn't work with a band again until joining the 'Living Archive Band' - of which he's been a member during three of its incarnations.  Paul's musical tastes run from American and English folk music, bits of blues and anything he hears on the radio which takes his fancy.

Many of the most memorable songs written for the Milton Keynes documentary dramas are Paul's work.  He started writing them for "All Change" in 1976-7 and contributed songs for most of the plays that followed - "Days of Pride", "Nellie", "Albert French", "Sheltered Lives", "Joey Guest", "Worker by Name" - and was in the band for many of their performances.
