Over the years Living Archive Band has consisted of a shifting assemblage of local musicians coming together to write and perform music for plays, concerts and radio broadcasts, generally under the aegis of the Living Archive and often in conjunction with Stantonbury Drama Group.
The current line-up is the one that produced the music for 'All Change' last autumn except for the arrival of Dave Watson in the drummer's chair.
The nucleus of the band formed in 1994 for the play 'Worker by Name', though Paul Clark, Marion Hill, Brad Bradstock and Shahnaz Hall have been involved with the community plays since their inception in the late seventies.
The 'Worker...' line-up produced a folk-based sound, but over the years the band has altered its sound to suit the content of the plays- in particular the rock and roll and sixties psychedelia in "Bigger, Brighter Better"?
The arrival of Andrew and Shahnaz Hall has given the band new options; Andrew's versatile keyboard skills range from the contemporary to most trad. Songwriters Neil Mercer, Paul Clark and Kevin Adams have come up with some memorable tunes over the years. Each has his own style, and it is possibly the contrast between them, which has given the musical plays their edge.
